Handcrafted Soap & Cost

For people new to shopping for handcrafted soap, you may be surprised to discover that the cost is a bit higher than a bar of Irish Spring. There are a few reasons for that:

  • Each formula is created to address a specific need – moisturizing, acne reduction, etc.
  • It takes up to six weeks for the soap to cure. Meaning, once the formula is mixed and soap is poured into molds, it must sit in a cool, dry atmosphere to set. During these weeks the water and lye are slowly evaporating leaving a hard, long-lasting bar of soap.
  • Batch soap making allows the mixologist to define specific blends, however at a much smaller scale than supermarket brands. This attention to detail is one of the benefits of handcrafted soap.

However you are introduced to small-batch soap making, we think that you’ll find the added moisturizers and sudsy bubbles to be well-worth the investment.
